dorm beds anf other furniture? – December 14th, 2009

❣Are you allowed to move all of the furniture they provide you with out, so you can move your own stuff in?
I want to move a loft bed into my room and I also want my own desk and chair etc. I havent seen my dorm yet, so I don’t know exactly whats available to me.

The other thing I thaught about was lifting my bed up with cement blocks for more storage, but I don’t really know what I want to do.

You should call the university to find out their policy about furniture removal. Each school is different and some even provide furniture that you can loft already. My school provided a desk and wardrobe that you could use to loft the bed (it was made especially to do this.)

Once you find out their policy you can then decide on the best route for you. Another reason to call is that some universities don’t allow you to loft because you would have to put holes in the walls, which they don’t always like. If you want to loft try one of these models that are free standing.

The cement blocks are an excellent idea and would give you the extra room you desperatly need in a dorm room.
