Are indoor teak furniture pieces okay outside? – February 9th, 2010

❣I know it’s the best teak patio furniture, because of the many properties of wood, but I wondered whether to buy a piece of furniture that was to be closed, but were teak and placed outdoors will continue until it?❣

Teak is teak so I have never heard of anything that makes it better for outdoor use. Teak is a wood that changes inside by sunlight and use so if you are buying it for outdoors it would be a high maintenance item. I am not of fan of real wood for outdoor use because of the maintenance. Though I am sure you can use protection coatings on it I wouldn’t do it. It will be constant or it will change and rot as any real wood will without contstant treatments. I would use it in a covered protected area at best. Otherwise I would choose any of the great aluminum no maintenance pieces available for outdoor use. Or choose any of the new outdoor wicker pieces. Wood, no.

Teak will do fine outdoors – even if it was designed for indoor use. Keep in mind that untreated teak will weather to a medium gray color. You may want to to treat it if you want to keep its existing color.

Maybe if the glue used is exterior glue. Coat it with a water sealer like Thomson’s.
